Have you wondered if you have what it takes to be a good leader? Are you interested in working now to develop the skills and abilities needed to be a good manager and leader? If so, this webinar will help you gain a clear understanding of what skills, abilities, and qualities a good manager needs. You will also have a chance to hear from a panel of supervisors from different types of libraries, at different management levels, and at different points in their management careers about their experiences and advice for people wanting to become a manager. \n\nLearning Objectives:\n\n	You will learn what skills you will need to develop in order to be a good manager.\n	You will learn the qualities and abilities needed in a manager.\n	You will gain a sense of what it is like to be a manager or supervisor.\n	You will get real-world advice and guidance from the panel of managers. \n\nFacilitator:\nMary Frankenfield has worked in the Mansfield/Richland County Public Library system for more than 20 years. During her time at MRCPL, Mary has worked as a page, a clerk, a children's librarian, and a branch manager. She has been in her current position as Deputy Director for a little over five years. Among her many other duties, Mary has an active role in employee training and development and has presented workshops for NEO-RLS, OLC, and the MRCPL staff.\n\n\n\nPanel:\n\nAndrea Wittmer, Head Librarian at The Ohio State University Mansfield Campus\nBromfield Library And Information Commons\nAndrea is the librarian and director of The Bromfield Library and Information Commons where she serves The Ohio State University at Mansfield and North Central State College communities. She has innumerable creative pursuits and can be found engaging in those when she’s not at work.\n\n\n\nKim Garrett, Deputy Director at Warren-Trumbull County Public Library\nWith a passion for knowledge and a dedication to serving the community, Kim brings nearly 15 years of invaluable experience to the table. Having started her career as a youth services librarian, Kim has steadily climbed the ranks, exemplifying unwavering commitment to promoting literacy, fostering a love for learning, and expanding access to resources for all patrons. Her extensive expertise in library management, collection development, and innovative programming has been instrumental in transforming the libraries she has served into vibrant hubs for lifelong learning and cultural enrichment. \n\n\nMariana Branch, Director at Kingsville Public Library \nMariana has a unique background, having earned her bachelor's degree in Archaeology from Kent State University to become an "Accidental Librarian" in 2009 serving as library director for 14 ½ years. She is a member of the Association of Rural and Small Libraries, serves on the American Library Association's (ALA) Peggy Barber Tribute Grant Selection Committee, and demonstrated her commitment to her local community by serving on the United Way of Ashtabula County Board from 2015 to 2018.\n\nKathy Zappitello, Executive Director at Conneaut Public Library\nIn addition to her role as Executive Director, Kathy is a past president of ARSL, the Association for Rural & Small Libraries. With over 20 years of experience, she has displayed courageous commitment to leadership paired with a genuine passion for empowering others, all within the framework of rural library service.\n\n\nKaya Burgin, Loveland Branch Manager for Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library\nKaya received her Bachelor of Arts in History and Bachelor of Science in Education from Miami University and her MLIS from the University of Pittsburgh. In 2015, she was named an American Library Association Emerging Leader.
