DESCRIPTION:The Iron is HOT - Libraries as Innovative and Dynamic Community Catalysts\n\n06/13/18 09:30 AM EST\n - 06/13/18 03:30 PM EST\Description:\nPublic library director, Mary Lou Carolan, has worked to dynamically transform libraries using a blend of innovative marketing techniques, community-centered projects, storytelling, and placemaking principles.  Carolan believes public libraries need to use their unique status as trusted institutions to implement what she calls the “3i” approach - initiate, innovate and instigate - to become true community leaders.\n\nCarolan asserts that a successful library today builds enduring relationships with school districts, collaborates and innovates with local small businesses, is a catalyst for important community conversations, and regularly connects with legislative leaders to be a voice in the decision-making process.
