Event Description
Our first speaker will be Halli Brownfield Watson, Associate Assistant Attorney General from the Ohio attorney General’s Constitutional Offices Section. She will speak on the Ohio Sunshine Laws which consist of the Ohio’s Public Records Act and Open Meeting Act.
Halli joined the Attorney General's Office in 2014. Her clients include the Board of Bar Examiners, the Client Security Fund, the Ohio Consumers' Counsel, the Ohio Disciplinary Counsel, the Ohio General Assembly, the State of Ohio, and the Treasurer of State of Ohio. She is also a member of the office's Public Records Unit. Prior to joining the Attorney General's Office, Halli was an associate at a law firm in Dayton focusing primarily on civil litigation defense work, and handled a wide variety of matters, including the defense of public schools and their employees, employment matters, insurance coverage, and general liability claims.
After lunch the Ohio Historical Society representative will present a 2 hour workshop that includes their “Just the Basics” presentation, which covers basics records management procedures and their RC forms. They will also touch on how to determine retention periods and storage considerations. The workshop also includes a presentation on electronic records management and touches on formats, scanning, email, and social media.
