Cultural Intelligence
Date/Time
9/28/2017
12:30 PM - 4:30 PM Eastern
Event Description
Culture influences each person’s thoughts, beliefs, perceptions, feelings, and behaviors.  Our interactions with people across cultures are therefore open to a wide range of interpretations that are dependent upon each individual’s cultural background.  Without the skills necessary to navigate through these differences, the potential for misunderstanding and miscommunication make cooperation unlikely, and at times impossible.

Cultural intelligence is a very important determinant of how successful a person will be in communicating cross culturally.  Cultural intelligence is the conceptualized as the ability to adapt to different and unfamiliar cultural settings and interactions (Early et al., 2006). It focuses on an individual’s development across four different areas: motivation, knowledge, strategy, and action.
This program will provide:
  • An overview of the knowledge, awareness, and skills necessary to develop your cultural intelligence.
  • An opportunity to participate in an application case study activity that is specific to your work.
  • Increased effectiveness in communicating cross culturally, and provide you with the tools necessary to create staff and client/customer experiences that are respectful, responsive, and inclusive to all.
